July 4th Parade in Harrisburg, NC

American Flag Unitard man July 4, 2012 Parade Harrisburg, NC
I stumbled upon the 4th of July Parade in Harrisburg, NC and it was a great mix of odd parade participants and small town fun.  The people were all great and there was a great big turn out (maybe 4,000 people).  The parade was right on the main drag, NC49.  NC49 is a four-lane highway of sorts, they shut down the north bound lanes for the parade and through traffic passes both directions in the two south bound lanes - strangely it worked.  Tons of candy for the kids and anyone within arms throw of the parade.

The picture (above) of American Flag unitard man was the embodiment of the parade and the small town of Harrisburg, NC - these people are all about celebrating America and their part within our great country.

BJ's Wholesale Club "float"
I am not sure if it was a corporate decision or a rouge employee of BJ's but this float of sorts was a train wreck I couldn't stop watching as it drove by at a snails pace.  The BJ's Wholesale float consisted of a 20-year old Toyota 4x4 mini truck with a BJ's banner draping the sides.  Add a few kids in the pick up bed and bam - BJ's parade float.

Next year take time to visit some of Charlotte's surrounding small towns to take in their fireworks and small town parades.  The towns of Mooresville, Davidson, Harrisburg, Matthews and some others all have their own celebrations either on July 4th or July 3rd (I guess July 3rd is Independence Eve).

The Harris Teeter Sign is up at the Davis Lake Shoppes

The new Harris Teeter Grocery marquee sign at the former Lowe's Grocery store at the Davis Lake Shoppes.

Happiness is the simple things in life...  It was great having the Lowe's Grocery store at the Davis Lake Shoppes at W.T. Harris & Davis Lake Blvds., but it is really great to know there is going to be a shiny new Harry Teeter Food Market & Pharmacy going in (with a pharmacy to boot).

Rumor has it that the Harris Teeter (HT) at Davis Lake will not be the run of the mill HT, but a specialty HT that will feature unique items not found in every HT.

I can only imagine the parents drinking at the Davis Lake neighborhood pool will be drinking  fantastic new variations of Miller Ice and Bud Lite along with a wide assortment of cheap bottles of wine normally only found at Total Wine.  Thank heavens for the teenage life guards keeping watch of the children as the parents booze it up.  Life is good!

Crash at David Cox & Sugar Creek Roads - near Davis Lake.

Crash June 30, 2012 at David Cox and Sugar Creek Roads, Charlotte, NC 28269

I am not sure what happened here other than that the two cars collided Saturday June 30, 2012 afternoon around 4pm.  Police were already on the scene when this photo was taken.

Harris Teeter Execs Coming to Davis Lake July Board Meeting

UPDATE x2:  Target opening date of August 1, 2012 - more likely around August 10, 2012.

UPDATE:  The July 11, 2012 Davis Lake HOA Board Meeting will feature two guests community police officer (we are not sure what he does for Davis Lake in addition to his normal duties as a CMPD officer) CMPD Officer Chuck Sayre and the Harris Teeter President Fred Morganthall.

The latest Davis lake email blasts announced that several Harris Teeter Executives are coming for a "special appearance" to the 7pm - July 11, 2012 Davis Lake Board meeting at the Davis Lake Club House (the clubhouse is the building at the pool) to discuss all things Teeter.  The Harris Teeter President, an obligatory Communications person (to record everything for the record) "and others" will be there to entertain questions from the hopeful Davis Lake contingent.  All are welcome to come out and ask the open ended question of "when ya'll opening?"  And "Lowe's Foods used to do it this way.. Why don't you?"

Please limit yourself to one absurd question so as to let all have a turn.

Goodbye Lowe's grocery, hello Harris Teeter

The former Lowe's Grocery store (soon to reopen as a Harris Teeter Grocery) at the Davis Lake Shoppes.

Since all the Lowe's in Mecklenburg County are sold to Harris Teeter  they are being closed permanently or to re-brand or grocery store is closed for the short term.  Look for a reopening around August 1, 2012.
